Dear members of Ka Bel's family,
Dear comrades and friends at KMU,

We mourn with you the untimely demise of Ka Bel, and we celebrate with you his great life and struggles, always in the service of the people. So many of us, Belgians, have had the privilege of knowing Ka Bel, of passing some time with him, of learning from him, of joking with him. As we are grateful for those particular moments in the company of a very special man, we also know that the richness of Ka Bel's life was to a large extent determined by his commitment, the cause he was fighting for, his vision of a society free from imperialism, from oppression, from the exploitation of man by man.
We cherish the memory of Ka Bel in our hearts. He will continue to be an example in so many people's efforts, in so many different places in the world, to arouse, organize and mobilize the workers and the people for national and social liberation.

Bert De Belder

Note: Two friends already paid tribute to Ka Bel on their blog, all of them in Dutch: Rob Van Vlierden http://www.intal.be/nl/node/6320 ("Ka Bel passed away: a great loss for all of us") and Wim De Ceukelaire http://www.intal.be/nl/node/6329 ("Philippine TU leader Ka Bel died"). Els Van der Sypt posted a long comment http://www.intal.be/nl/node/6320/85#comment-85 ("Ka Bel is dead. But his method of work remains."). And our friends in the trade union already gathered yesterday evening in the 'Ka Fort' conference hall in Brussels for a small tribute.
