To all the Filipino people who love and strive for freedom, justice and peace

The Philippines Australia Union Link sends its humble tribute to the life and spirit of Crispin Ka Bel Beltran on his sudden death yesterday, May 20, 2008.

We have shared so many campaigns, marches, caravans and conferences with Ka Bel in his many roles as a workers leader and a peoples’ leader since we came into contact in 1984.

We cherish the memory of his two journeys to Australia in 1995 and 1997 when he came to meet so many workers, union leaders, political leaders and members of the Filipino community here.

We salute Ka Bel for his life of service to the Filipino workers and people and to all of humanity in our striving for justice and peace, we salute him and his family for all their many big sacrifices in this work.

We remain greatly inspired by Ka Bel in our struggle to defeat the vicious forces of exploitation and oppression and re-commit ourselves to our solidarity with the Filipino people and all the world’s peoples in our just fight for genuine democracy, peace and a sustainable environment.

Farewell Ka Bel!
Peter Murphy
