DISINFORMATION BY GONZALES AND RAZON
IS PATENTLY MENDACIOUS AND INEFFECTIVE

National security adviser Norberto Gonzales and his deputy Avelino Razon
are engaged in a disinformation campaign against Prof. Jose Maria Sison,
founding chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and
chief political consultant of the Negotiating Panel of the National
Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
But their false claims are so patently mendacious and ineffective that
they have only succeeded in proving themselves as comedians rather than as
psywar experts in the unlamented tradition of Goebbels. They make claims
that contradict each other and that also run counter to well-known facts.
Gonzales has been responsible for feeding the US and Dutch governments
with false information that Prof. Sison is the active chairman of the CPP
Central Committee and commander-in-chief of the New People's Army (NPA)
and as such is responsible for all operational details in the CPP and NPA,
including the killing of the two military agents, Rolly Kintanar and
Arturo Tabara.
But according to the news report in the Manila Standard yesterday, 31
December, Gonzales states that Prof. Sison has been merely the symbolic
leader of the CPP since 1988 and that Benito Tiamzon has been in fact the
acting chairman of the CPP Central Committee, while Wilma Tiamzon is the
general secretary. Yet, in a report in the same newspaper last 30
December, Gonzales claimed that Sison had been ousted as CPP chairman and
that Wilma Tiamzon was believed to have replaced him.

Another example, in
yesterday’s news report, Gonzales makes a duet with his deputy Avelino
Razon in claiming that Ka Roger (Gregorio Rosal) and Caridad Magpantay
have teamed up against Prof. Sison and demanded his removal from
policy-making and that the Tiamzon couple are aligned with and supporting
Prof. Sison.
But in the same news story, it is pointed out that Caridad Magpantay and
Luisito de la Cruz had left the CPP in 1998 in opposition to CPP policies.
It is absurd to pair off Magpantay with Ka Roger as partners in turning
the CPP against Prof. Sison because Ka Roger is well-known as a staunch
leader of the CPP.
The NDFP Negotiating Panel believes that national security adviser
Gonzales and deputy Razon are grossly ignorant of the internal affairs of
the CPP and are deliberately issuing conflicting statements to the press
and trying to prod journalists to engage in fishing expedition at the
expense of Prof. Sison.
